July 9th -

This morning we all headed out about 11am in the 28' Scout that Harv had been considering buying from a friend as a larger fishing boat (doesn't fit his needs tho). Picnic lunch was packed for the 6 of us.

We did some sight seeing & stopped at a lodge that was abandoned about 4 years ago due to a bankruptcy. It was under construction & was never completed. 3 Canadian brothers bought it 3 years ago & have been working on it ever since. People can rent cabins for $250 for a double & $200 for a single. The lodge is quite large & they are still working on that. It's called Homfray Lodge & is in the middle of nowhere but has a gorgeous setting. You'd have to fly there by seaplane or take your boat to their dock, altho it wouldn't hold many.. One of the brothers was there working & gave us a tour. A lady was there too & was planting a vegetable garden on the dock in inverted pieces of plastic used in septic tank drain fields tht she had repurposed. She had just started that project this morning. She was wrapped in a towel, working, & we were pretty sure there was nothing underneath that towel! Harv & Maggie had been to a party there last summer.

After leaving, the guys decided it was time to fish - John caught a yellow tail (red snapper). We cut them off after half an hour so we could have lunch. It was really hot when the boat was standing still so we moved on & got back to our boats around 3:00.

Dinner tonight was clam chowder from the leftover clams, salmon cooked 2 different ways, cod, potato salad & brown rice quinoa with garbonzo beans. Dessert - ice cream & fresh strawberries. Serious kayaking is in order tomorrow to help offset all ths fine dining!!!
