July 7th - Desolation: Day 9 of great weather

Well, no boating experience goes without boat challenges to be discussed, researched & tackled. Rod, John & Harvey have all had things to work on together - John's generator, our house batteries (another 2 have failed), etc etc. Our solution will be a trip to Campbell River to the marina to buy & have 2 new batteries installed. This happened to us last year too. So now all 4 have failed ): All 4 batteries were installed new in Long Beach (when we bought the boat 4 yrs ago). Rod is certain we got a bad batch.

Rod took his first ride this morning on his new kayak & managed to get in & out with little effort. The ladder solution works perfectly!!! John & I took off after him & couldn't find him anywhere. John assured me that he would be back on our boat either drinking a martini or a bloody mary. Sure enough he was there but no drink in hand (I guess it was only 10:30)!

Later in the morning, John took the ladies (Maggie, Lois & me) to do some clamming & oyster gathering. We got 4 buckets + 2 big bags which are now hanging in the water until we're ready to eat them.

Only Harv went fishing today & came back with nothing. So, dinner tonight was turkey breast, dressing, gravy, cranberries, small potatoes, sweet potatoes, cole slaw, left over bean salad & baked beans, with choices of 4 different ice creams. Another great potluck feast!
