July 4th: Desolation Sound - Scobel Island

Our plan to leave early in the morning was scuttled by Captain Rod due to a higher wind forecast than yesterday. 2 of us were planning to leave for Cortes & Desolation, so the guys conferred several times & we finally left about 11:00 am. We got up to 22 knots of wind & 2 ft chop, sunny & about 62 degrees going thru Malaspina Strait - actually a very nice ride.

We arrived at Sobel about 4:15 & it's in the mid 70's here too. Our friends whom we raft with were out fishing so decided to anchor in Prideaux Haven for the night - get the dinghy down & rinse off the boat from all the salt so we'd be ready to raft in the morning. There was too much rearranging of fishing boats & dinghies, etc. for the ladies to do on their own.
