June 30 - Pender Harbour, BC

We did get off at 7am, cleared Customs at Bedwell at 8:15 & headed across the Georgia Straits. Water was smooth (rippled for you boaters) the entire way. We spent most of the afternoon on the flybridge! We arrived at Pender at 4:15. Beautiful day & it's 83 at 5pm.

Chardonnay took his first walk this trip around the deck once we docked. We're here for Canada Day tomorrow & provisioning for fresh fruits & veggies and liquor. Would you believe I only had 1 bottle of wine on board when we left - now gone as Carol & I managed to finish it yesterday. (Darn those customs people & the Captain!)

First day out: Reid Harbor on Stewart Island; June 29, 2014

Well, we're on our way! Left Shelter Bay around 8:00am & arrived at Reid at 12:30. We're anchored out & Carol & Mike Silhan are rafted to us. It's been a beautiful day with smooth waters. We spent happy hour at our new table/seating on the "Lido Deck." Our entertainment was Ospreys diving into the water to catch fish, a ski boat dragging kids in an inner tube & on a wake board & other boaters anchoring & taking dinghy rides.

Mr. Cat (aka Chardonnay) has settled in & seems to remember the boat. New addition this year are "kitty stairs" so he can climb up & down on his own to the settee & possibly our bed. Chardonnay is 15+ yrs old now, has diabetes, arthritis & was recently diagnosed with a hyper-thyroid condition so movement is getting more challenging---sound familiar to any of you??? He needs more medication than we do at this point - insulin shots & thyroid pills twice a day & glucosamine in the am!

Tomorrow we leave at 7am to cross Customs at Bedwell & then head to the SYC outstation in Pender Harbour. This will probably be a 9-10 hour trip.
