July 1st - Canada Day

Yesterday some friends came in from the SYC Ropeyarn North group (we get together for dinners at the Farmhouse during the winter months) - Jon & Ann Bowman. We got a chance to tour their beautiful 63' Dutch Trawler & visit over cocktails. Their boat is a North Sea trawler with lots of gorgeous teak everywhere on the inside & lots of interesting nooks & crannies.

Our first 2 projects this morning were to put the dinghy down & put on our new screens for the windows & doors. This will be our first test for the screens (which Rod had made this winter) to keep both the sun AND the mosquitos out.

Silhans got here this afternoon & we headed to the local pub for dinner tonight- great food on the deck! It was up to 93 in the boat when we got back from dinner - can't imagine what it would have been without the screens! Fortunately it cooled off for sleeping.

Note to selves: you need to close the vent window (which pushes out) to keep the mosquitos out of the boat (: The Captain was needing anti-itch cream this morning.
