July 31st - Pierre's Echo Bay

We left Lagoon Cove at 9:45 to travel to Pierre's. Several boats pulled out around 7am including the boat behind us so getting out was easy, especially with some help from the dock to push our bow out (even though we have a bow thruster, we didn't have to use it). We arrived about 12:30 & once again a lot of boats were coming in when we were so there was a little wait to dock.

We had a relaxing afternoon & then went to the Barbeque Prime Rib Roast for happy hour & dinner - there were baked potatoes, rolls, salad, carrots, asparagus, corn, prime rib & blackberry cobbler with ice cream - yum! Tova (Pierre's wife) orchestrates which tables go when to eat & she asked people to please sign up for the dinners as much ahead as they can. Apparently they were expecting about 40 people for dinner at the beginning of the day & ended up with almost 100. Imagine making that happen on short notice!!!

We visited with an interesting couple from Calgary who sat across from us & were on a beautiful sailboat. It was very enjoyable. That is definitely one of the great things about going to the Broughton marinas - you get to meet really interesting people & often we see some of them again the following year. There are 3 SYC boats here - 2 of them we have seen a lot as we seem to be following the same route. It looks like the other couple left their boat here to fly home - also a couple we know & cocktailed with in Pender Harbor.
