Aug. 3rd - Echo Bay

3 SYC boats came in last night & were surrounding us on the dock: Vagabond - 88' Westbay Sonship, Katherine - 90' Knight & Carver & Fast Break - 80' Nordlund (Blake & Erik Nordstrom's boat). Definitely feeling "small" (if you can believe that)! The large boats are in the Broughtons, for sure. The people on Katherine ran to talk to Nikki when she dropped us off yesterday. Their friends are the ones that ended up on top of the whale in her little boat. They were anxious to book a trip with her while they're here. Also when Blake Nordstrom came in (friends of the Katherine boaters & here to have dinner with them last night) he came over to talk about our trip - they've been out with Nikki too & loved their adventure as well. They left ths morning but the others are staying for the pig roast.

It drizzled last night & this morning - today was the first time this summer that the heat has been on in the boat. It was in the mid 50's when I got up. I forgot to mention that I am now addicted to 2 new games that I downloaded on my Ipad when Heather & the kids were here - they all play these - Candy Crush & Mirrors of Albion. I keep trying to get to higher levels & it is not that easy - trust me. Hopefully I'll get the strategy figured out before we get home (-: I mean, a grandma can't be outdone by her 4 & 6 year old grandkids can she???

Tonight was Pierre's pig roast. Everyone brought a hardy potluck dish to go with it - our contribution was a cole slaw. Many good sides - everything from salads (pasta & green), veggies, warm rice & pasta dishes.

We sat with friends we made from Seattle the other night & a couple from Holland who have been sailing around the world for 12 years! They were making their way down the coast from Alaska - headed to San Francisco & possibly Mexico - they're trying decide if they will feel safe there.
