Today we had a leisurely morning. After a late breakfast, H&D took the kayaks out for a spin. We had lunch on the "Lido Deck," played some cards with the kids (even Rod got sucked in by Sienna), played some Mexican Train & then H&D went back out on the kayaks with the sails up. Heather was a little tentative at first but almost looked like a pro by the time she came back. Sounds like there will be more practice before they head out to sea!!!

Jon & Lois had a couple of blow up mattresses & 2 noodles so they got some initation today too. Many toys to choose from...how will everyone decide???

Harv & Maggie's friends got here this afternoon. They are staying on Jon's boat as it's larger than Harv's & probably will be here until Mon or Tues. Happy hour was about 6:00 with cocktails, clams & french bread on Harv's boat. The clams are served in small paper bowls & Sienna had 8 servings - she loves them. She ate more than any of the adults. We got the leftovers to make clam chowder with tomorrow so Rod shucked them & saved the broth.

I was talking to the visitors (Marty & Penny) & one thing led to another...it turns out that Marty & I are cousins - maybe 2nd or 3rd, we're trying to sort that out with help from our siblings and his mom. I'm really sure that my dad & his dad were 1st-2nd or 3rd cousins because I remember my dad talking about relatives in Vancouver but I never met them. What are the chances of that happening in Desolation Sound, with drop in guests on the boat next to us in our raft - amazing, and small world?!!!

After we were done the girls went swimming with their dad. It was Talia's first time in the water. She didn't want to go in at first but once she tried it she kept jumping off the swim step.

This is the life!

July 19th

Today we actually woke everyone up to go clamming after Jon realized it was a low tide morning. We needed to hit the beach at the right time. We left the boat in a hurry about 9:00 - Jon, Heather, Dylan, Sienna, Talia & Grandma went. The girls loved looking for the clams - the adults did most of the digging but S & T helped find them & put them in the buckets - we filled 4 large ones! Plus Jon got a bucket of oysters. The girls thought it was a great contest to see whose bucket was the fullest. Once again the clams are hanging in 2 bags off the boat & the oysters are in an underwater home as well.

The plan is to do clam appetizers with french bread tomorrow & oyster apps on Sunday. We'll do that with the raft & then do dinner separately as the little girls eat much earlier than the adults. Also Kippers have guests joining them on the boat tomorrow for a few days.

After lunch, H, D & Sienna went swimming off our boat. Next Lois joined us for a game of Mexican Train. Then Rod, H, D & Sienna took the dinghy over to a little beach in Prideaux Haven where they could swim in even warmer water & there are tide pools to play in. On their way back they picked up our kayaks off the rocks & they're now ready.

I stayed on the boat with Talia who didn't want to go with them. She beat me at 4 games of Go Fish & I gave up after that even though T was loving it.

Every one was tired after all the day's activities so we had a low key evening. The girls ate early & the adults ate later on the flybridge as it was a warm evening.
